Al Ahly achieved a sensational 4-0 win over Smouha SC on Sunday in the Egyptian Premier League at Alexandria Stadium.

Three goals in the last five minutes of the first half gave us a comfortable lead at half-time and another goal in the second half boosted our lead to 4-0.

We added another three vital points to our tally ahead of a busy run of league fixtures before the CAF Champions League final.

First Half

It was clear that our players are ready to bounce back after a draw in the last league game and showed their desire from the opening moment of the game.

Our wingers Taher Mohamed Taher and Hussein El Shahat were behind our first chances in the game, with Taher shooting from distance and El Shahat trying to dribble past the goalkeeper but both their efforts missed the target.

Our striker Mohamed Sherif announced his presence with a fantastic header but his ball hit the bar and went wide.

El Shahat scored a goal with an incredible bicycle kick but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Finishing the first half in style  

Our players were on fire in the last five minutes of the game and we managed to score three goals to end the first half with an unexpected lead.

The first goal was scored by Sherif, who finished a beautiful one-two play with Taher by putting the ball in the back of the net.

El Shahat added the second goal after only one minute as he met a beautiful cross from Ali Maaloul.

Ali Maaloul was behind our third goal after the referee awarded us a penalty, which was converted by Maaloul, making the score 3-0 at the break.

Second Half  

We started the second half with a substitution, bringing in Ali Lotfy for El Shenawy, who kept our net clean in the first 45 minutes.

Sherif added his second goal in the game and the fourth goal for the Red Eagles with an astonishing finish after a perfect pass from Maaloul.

The remaining minutes of the game went by with our players controlling the game and we had several chances to widen the gap in the score but the opponent’s defense stood their ground.

The game ended 4-0 for the Red Eagles and we reached 45 points in our journey to defend the league title.
